General Agreement
Welcome to Umbra Woodworks. By engaging our custom woodworking services, you're agreeing to the terms outlined here. We've spent 17 years perfecting our craft in New York, and these guidelines ensure your heirloom piece is delivered exactly as envisioned.
1. Bespoke Commissions
Ever wondered why custom work takes time? It's the precision. Every commission starts with a signed design specification. You'll receive detailed drawings before we make the first cut. Once production begins on your custom furniture, significant structural changes may incur additional costs.
2. Material Variations
Wood is a living material. We believe its natural knots, grain variations, and subtle shifts in color aren't flaws—they're the signature of the tree. Because of this, small variations from showroom samples are expected and celebrated.
3. Payment & Deposits
We require a 50% non-refundable deposit to secure your slot in our workshop and purchase timber. The remaining balance is due upon completion, prior to delivery or installation at your Lewis Avenue location or beyond.
Warranty & Restoration
How do we protect your investment? Every new build comes with a 5-year structural warranty. This covers joinery failure under normal indoor conditions. It doesn't, however, cover damage from extreme humidity swings or direct New York sunlight—wood breathes, and you'll need to treat it right.
Restoration of antique wood pieces is handled on a case-by-case basis. We'll give you our expert assessment of what's possible, but old wood can sometimes hide secrets until we get under the finish.
